Start with the routines you want to keep. An over-bath shower can give a compact room both functions. A separate bath and shower can work in a larger room if each has comfortable access. If a bath is rarely used, a larger shower may be a better use of the space. We compare those options against the room measurements.

Storage should have a place for the things your household actually uses: towels, toiletries, cleaning products and spare supplies. Vanity drawers keep the basin clearer, while a mirror cabinet can add accessible everyday storage. Two basins are an option where the room is large enough, but useful clear floor space should not be sacrificed just to add one.

Discuss temperature control, lighting and product positions with the designer. These decisions help a shared room feel comfortable for different users throughout the day.

Plan installation around home life
Tell the team if this is your only bathroom. Before work begins, agree the planned sequence, arrangements for toilet use, access through the home and removal of the old suite. The quotation should identify the full installation scope and the timetable should account for any preparation revealed during the survey.

Can a small bathroom work for a family?+
Yes. An over-bath shower, appropriate furniture sizes and useful storage can retain the main functions without crowding the room.
Should we choose a double basin?+
Only if the layout has enough space and it meets a real need. A larger single basin and better storage may be more useful in a compact bathroom.
