Check whether a level floor is possible
A truly level-access shower has no tray edge to step over. Whether it can be installed depends on the floor structure, available depth, waste route and finished floor levels. A survey is needed to establish what is practical in your home; a low-profile tray is a different option and still has a step.

Plan the shower around the person using it
Entry width, turning space, screen position, controls and shower reach all affect day-to-day use. A fixed or folding seat and grab rails can be considered where suitable support can be provided. Share any specific access requirements at the design appointment so the proposed arrangement can be assessed around them.

Choose suitable flooring and water control
The shower area needs a suitable floor fall, drain and waterproofing system beneath the finish. Surface choice, screen position and shower direction also affect slip risk and splash. The selected system and installation details should be set out clearly in the project specification.

A level-access wet room may suit the floor and drainage in some homes. In others, a low-threshold tray or a different shower arrangement may be more practical. We explain the differences and any remaining step before you choose. Do not rely on the product name alone to assume that entry is flush.

Is a low-profile shower tray level access?+
No. A low-profile tray still has an edge, although it may be lower than a standard tray. Confirm the actual finished entry height before choosing.
Can every bathroom have a level-access shower?+
No. Floor construction, drainage and available depth affect feasibility. A survey is needed to confirm whether a flush entry can be achieved.
Can I add a shower seat or grab rails?+
These can be considered as part of the design. The position, fixing support, clearances and suitability should be agreed for the person using the shower.
Will I need a complete bathroom renovation?+
The work depends on the current bathroom and the chosen adaptation. The survey and quote will explain what needs to be changed and what may be retained.
